Boyd Brothers is a full service, high quality sheet fed and heatset web printer. We not only have the finest equipment available but also the skilled personnel to achieve what today’s demanding market requires. By providing complete printing services under one roof, we can satisfy our customer’s requirements without requiring any outside services. We have a complete digital prep department consisting of the latest technology in Computer-to-Plate, scanners, and imagesetters. In our pressroom you’ll find Heidelberg Speedmaster and GOSS Sunday 2000 presses. Our bindery includes both saddle-stitch and perfect binding capabilities along with die cutting, foil stamping and embossing. In addition we offer a complete mail service utilizing our Cheshire mailing system.

Digital File Submission
High Resolution CMYK PDF files are the preferred format for file submission. Boyd Brothers will accept native files from most page layout application, but those must be accompanied with copies of all the fonts and all linked files used in the document. When High Resolution PDF files are submits, it may save prepress time and this will result in a cost savings to the client. PrePress Checklist
• All color photos should be CMYK.
• All B&W photos should be gray scale not four color black.
• Pantones are converted to process on four color jobs.
• Large coverages of black should be converted to Rich Black. (C-40% M-20% Y-20% K-100%)
• Specify PMS numbers in all spot work.
• All fonts included or converted to outlines.
• No four color black body copy.
• Minimum resolution for B&W or CMYK images: 225 dpi preferred 300 dpi.
• Line art (Bitmap) images: 1200 dpi
• Pages should include bleeds, crop marks and page information.
• No content is to be within a 1/4” of trim size.
• Minimum .125” bleed
• Total area density should not exceed SWOP 300% TAC
• All lines and line art images should be of a minimum 1/3 pt thickness (1/2 pt for reverses).
• High Resolution PDF file should be saved on a Thumb Drive, DVD, or CD-ROM.
• Only one job per disk.

Images
All images should have an effective resolution of at least 300 dpi. Interpolation or resampling the image size in PhotoShop will not improve the print quality. Images should be placed in page layout applications at or close to 100% or less of the original image size at 300 dpi to assure best reproduction. Example: an 8" x 10" image at 72 dpi equals a print quality image of 1.92" x 2.4" at 300 dpi. Download PDF Checklist
